⟨ITA⟩ "...

ABOUT
Andrejka Možina was born into a musical family of Slovenian origin in Trieste (Italy). She started studying violin and piano at an early age, before moving to cello at 13. Very soon she discovered composition as an expressive channel which became essential to her, in addition to performing as a singer and instrumentalist in different styles. After graduation in Cello (“Tartini” Conservatory in Trieste, 2004) and Jazz Singing (“Tartini” Conservatory in Trieste, 2010 / KGBL in Ljubljana, 2006), she started an intensive study of composition. Her prolific production of musical works arises from the collaboration with several poets and lyricists, theatre companies and Radio-Television Broadcasting Houses.
Improvisation is a throughline in her daily practice and performances across genres and instrumental configurations and as such can be found in many of her works. In 2014 she reached the finale of the composition contest "In Clausura" at the Triennale Exhibition in Milano. Her composition "Dan mladosti" was performed by the 100 Cellos conducted by Giovanni Sollima. In 2016 and 2017 she was awarded with 3rd and 2nd prize at the Composition Contest “La Mancha guitars” for guitar orchestra in Saarland, Germany. She reached the finale of both the Slovene Chanson Festival in 2009 and 2023 and the competition for composition award Jazzon in 2009 and 2010. Andrejka's inclination to actively participate in the swirl of musical styles led her to look for new ways of approaching music by studying and/or attending masterclasses with several outstanding musicians: Stefano Bellon, Klaus Gesing, Glauco Venier, Ernst Reijseger, Stephan Braun, Tomeka Reid, Stefano Bollani, Rachel Gould, Berg Henning, Peter O'Mara, Bruno Castellucci, Jarod Cagwin, Bjorn Meyer, Mark Ribot etc. She has performed in festivals such as Jazz&Wine of Peace, Folkest, Shanghai International Art Festival of China, Chigiana International Festival, Ravenna Festival, Jazz Italiano per le Terre del Sisma, Trieste Estate, TriesteLovesJazz, Across the Border, Imago Sloveniae, Nei Suoni Dei Luoghi, Jazz Festival Ljubljana, Villa Celimontana Jazz Festival etc. |
